SPCC Welcomes new president, Dr. Stan Sidor

Dr. Stan Sidor is now the president of South Piedmont Community College. His first full day on the job was Tuesday, July 5.

Former president Dr. John McKay retired June 30 after eight years as the college’s chief executive.

Sidor, who comes to SPCC from Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Fla., was chosen by the SPCC Board of Trustees from among six finalists for the job earlier this year.

Sidor has served as provost of the Advanced Technology Center Campus and associate vice president for the College of Engineering Technology and Occupational Programs at Daytona State College since 2004. He also served the college as the executive director and dean of the Advanced Technology College from 2001-2005.

Prior to his tenure at Daytona State College, Sidor was the director of Industry and Workforce Training/regional director of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center at Northwestern Michigan College from 1989-2001.

Sidor received bachelor’s degrees in environment science-sociology and business administration from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich. He earned a master’s degree in manufacturing administration from Western Michigan University and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Central Florida.
