Introduction to Medical Sonography (non-credit class)

48-hour hybrid class - includes both classroom and online learning

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides an introduction to medical sonography. Topics include applications, sonographic terminology, history, patient care, ethics, and basic skills. Course work will include lab and clinical activities. Upon completion, students should be able to define professionalism and sonographic applications and perform basic patient care skills and preliminary scanning techniques.

14SON303 October 16 - December 11, 2014 (no class 11/27)
Thursdays 1pm-4pm

Cost: $125 + $24 for supplies ($149 total)
Students have to meet pre-requisites before enrolling

Pre-Requisites:
1. Enrolled as a current SPCC student with Medical Sonography listed as major.
2. Meet the required CPT cut scores for the Medical Sonography Program:
Combined Reading and Sentence Skills score 166 or higher
Computer Skills: 80 Arithmetic: 55 (MAT 060)
Algebra: 75 (MAT 070 and MAT 080)
OR Mastery in DMA 010 through DMA 080
If you do not meet these required CPT scores, you must enroll in and complete the appropriate developmental course(s). Recent SAT, ACT, ASSET or COMPASS scores may be used in place of some of these requirements.
