New Employee Orientation
Human Resources is committed to helping guide new employees as they transition their careers to South Piedmont. The orientation process is established to create what the College hopes to be a lasting and rewarding relationship between employee and employer.

An individual orientation is offered within the first month of employment to cover personnel policies and procedures, campus tours, introduction to colleagues, departmental policies and procedures, technology applications, etc.

A formal, college-wide orientation is offered two times per year, in spring and fall. Topics covered are the history and current direction of the College, division spotlights presented by Senior Leadership, and a review of policies and procedures.

Through mentoring or optional meetings, new employees will have the opportunity to gather additional information and ask follow-up questions that arise after their orientations.

Employee Mentoring
South Piedmont is committed to a culture which supports the development and retention of the faculty, staff, students, and administrators. Each new full-time employee is assigned a mentor to help acclimate them to the South Piedmont culture and be a confidant and helper as they experience all the “firsts” that come along with any new job.

The mission of the mentoring program is to provide a systematic program of orientation for the academic and workforce development of individual faculty, staff, and administrators resulting in the enhancement of their personal productivity, professional, and educational goals within the culture of the College.
