  • SPCC to have Black History Month celebration on Feb. 15

    South Piedmont Community College will have a Black History Month celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 10:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company Conference Center in Building A on SPCC’s Old Charlotte Highway Campus. 



  • Massage Therapy program graduates 17

    South Piedmont Community College’s Massage Therapy program had a graduation ceremony Friday, January 27 on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus. The 17 graduates completed a six-month program. 



  • SPCC increases prize money for Battle of the Bands

    Prize money has been dramatically increased for South Piedmont Community College’s Battle of the Bands, set for Saturday, April 21. The SPCC Student Government Association, sponsor of the event, is now seeking bands and individual performers who would like a shot at the cash. 



  • Free College Day set for Saturday, Feb. 18

    Ever wondered what classes are like at a community college? Ever wanted to learn how to kayak? Huh? What do those two things have to do with each other? Come to South Piedmont Community College’s Free College Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus and find out. It will be a chance to experience college for free and learn a little something in the process. 



  • SPCC to host FAFSA Day at two locations

    South Piedmont Community College will again participate in the statewide FAFSA Day on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. until noon in Building B on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe and in the Career Cruiser, which will be parked in the Walmart parking lot in Wadesboro. 



  • WIA funding approved for students in Auto Body Repair, I-CAR

    South Piedmont Community College’s Auto Body Repair and I-CAR training program have been approved for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funding by the Centralina Workforce Development Board. 



  • $75,000 grant to create Anson-Union Workforce Mobilization Project

    SPCC has received a $75,000 grant from the North Carolina Rural Center to create an Anson-Union Workforce Mobilization Project that will, among other things, have paid internships with local manufacturers, provide gas cards for some who travel long distances to take classes and provide tuition vouchers for qualified students. 



  • SPCC Awarded Grant to Support Training for Jobs for the Future

    South Piedmont Community College is one of eight North Carolina community colleges selected to participate in a three-year grant designed to train adults for the jobs of today and the future.  



  • SGA adopts families for Christmas

    South Piedmont Community College’s Student Government Association threw a party Wednesday, Dec. 14, for five children from three families that it adopted for the Christmas season. 



  • One week left to register for spring classes

    There is one week left to register for college-credit classes at South Piedmont Community College before classes resume Jan. 9. The college reopens Jan. 3 after its Christmas break. Registration will be conducted on both the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe and the L.L. Polk Campus in Polkton from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 3, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 4-5 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 6.
