Mechanical Engineering Technology at SPCCMechanical Engineering Technology

With mechanical engineering credentials, you will be able to work as a technician in mechanical and manufacturing engineering roles. Responsibilities may include assisting in the design, development, testing, and troubleshooting and repair of engineered systems.

Emphasis is placed on the integration of theory and hands-on application of engineering principles. In addition to course work in engineering graphics, engineering fundamentals, materials and manufacturing processes, mathematics, and physics, the curriculum covers computer applications, critical thinking, planning and problem solving, and oral and
written communications.

Graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program will find employment opportunities in the manufacturing or service sectors of engineering technology. Engineering technicians may obtain professional certification by application to organizations such as American Society for Quality (ASQ), Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) and National Institute for Certification in Engineering (NICET).
