Toys for Tots
SPCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter is collecting new and gently used toys for the Marine Corp League's “Toys for Tots.” We are collecting these toys for the “First Memorial Toy Run for Calvin McCarver,” who passed away from cancer on February 18, 2011. This memorial run will be held by Calvin’s wife, Anita and friends on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at IRON HORSE MOTORCYCLES in Monroe, NC.
Since the Toy Run is on November 12, we would like toy donations by November 11. There are collection boxes for these toys and other items in the lobbies of the Garibaldi building of the L.L. Polk Campus and Building A of the Old Charlotte Highway Campus.
The registration for the Toy Run will start at 10 a.m.
The Marine Corps League has also asked for door prizes or goody bag items, which can be anything from coupons from local businesses, free meal tickets from local restaurants, spa sets, sample products, pens, calculators, candies or anything small enough to go into a goody bags. Door prizes can be for example: anything from can cozies, phone cases, key chains, T-shirts, hats, or anything that is motorcycle related.
