Cardiovascular Sonography - The Cardiovascular Sonography curriculum provides the individual with the knowledge and skills necessary to acquire, process, and evaluate the human heart and vascular structures. A cardiovascular sonographer uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of the heart and vascular structures. Note: Certification in at least one sonography specialty and other requirements are necessary for entry into this program. Medical Sonography - Medical sonographers specialize in diagnostic imaging procedures that assist in a physicians’ diagnoses. Sonographers use high-frequency sound waves that are collected back into the machine as echoes and forms that can be recorded for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician. Medical sonographers examine the screen during a scan for visual cues that may indicate unhealthy areas to determine which scans to show the physician. Note: Certification in at least one patient-care relate field (such as CNA, EMT, MLA or equivalent) and other requirements are necessary for entry into this program.
