Career and College Promise

Career and College Promise is a new initiative recently authorized by the State of North Carolina. It provides seamless dual enrollment opportunities for eligible North Carolina high school students.

Career and College Promise provides the following options for students while they are still in high school:

• Core 44 College Transfer Pathways leading to a minimum of 30 hours of college credit
• Career Technical Education Pathways (CTE) leading to certificates, diplomas or degrees
• Cooperative innovative high schools (Anson and Union County Early Colleges)

South Piedmont Community College received State approval for the college transfer pathways to be offered in the Spring 2012 semester! Certain career technical pathways will be offered in the Fall 2012 semester.

Interested students should check with their high school counselor or career development coordinator (CDC) to verify eligibility.

5. Career Technical Education Pathway (CTE) - Certificate, diploma, degree programs in various subjects

How to Apply

1. Meet all eligibility requirements for Career and College Promise:
   1. Be a high school junior/senior;
   2. Have a weighted 3.0 GPA on high school courses;
   3. Demonstrate college readiness on an approved assessment or placement test (see table below for acceptable scores).
2. Complete SPCC’s application for admission (www.spcc.edu, Future Students > Admissions)
3. Provide an official copy of high school transcript
4. Provide an official copy of assessment scores (unless posted on high school transcript)
5. View new student orientation (www.spcc.edu, Future Students > Orientation)
