Students applying to health programs at SPCC are required to take the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) version V. TEAS scores are valid for one year and can be taken every 3 months. There is a $40.00 nonrefundable fee for each TEAS test. Please contact the testing center or view the testing calendar for available TEAS testing dates.
TEAS test not taken at SPCC must be officially transferred from ATI Testing and must be the same version used by SPCC. There is a charge to have scores sent from ATI Testing.
The purpose of ACCUPLACER, SPCC's placement test, is to enhance student success.
There are five parts to the test:
Each section will determine a student's skills and with advisor or counselor guidance, will enable the student to start in the appropriate courses for their curriculum. While the test is not timed, students should allot two hours for completion. A CPT Study Guide is available to any student wishing to practice sample questions before they take the placement test - please contact a Testing Coordinator to obtain a booklet or click on the link below for our online version (requires Adobe Reader).

The full test is administered without charge to any student who has not taken the test within the previous 12 months. Students wishing to retest within the 12-month period must meet certain criteria before a retest will be granted. Please see the SPCC Catalog or Testing Center staff for more details. All retests are $2 for each subtest, or $10 for all five subtests.

The Testing Center staff will offer “pre-test” advisement to you regarding the serious nature of the initial test. Resources are available for you before you take your first test. Distance Learning Course Testing
The Testing Centers at the L.L. Polk and Old Charlotte Highway campuses offer our instructors a secure environment in which to have their distance education course tests proctored. Instructors must use the Test Entry Form to indicate a date range for the test and to specify what, if any, materials the student may use during the test (such as scratch paper, calculator, etc.) Completed forms for each request are required before tests will be proctored. Please see the Testing Coordinator in the Student Success area of either campus to get copies of this form.
**Please note: TheTesting Department will charge a $20 fee for tests proctored for other institutions. Fees will be waived for students currently taking classes at SPCC. If you are a student or instructor from another institution and are interested in having your tests proctored at one of our Testing Centers, contact the Testing Director (testingdirector@spcc.edu) for arrangements.
