Community Bridge Program
South Piedmont Community College, serving Union and Anson Counties just southeast of Charlotte, enrolls between 2000 and 3000 basic skills students each year.
We believe “the students who are more educated about their futures are the ones who succeed.” We make sure our basic skills students know about college and continuing education opportunities through a transition program that is a dynamic collaboration between basic skills, Human Resource Development (HRD), and student services (curriculum admissions). The program features a transitions team, counselor, and innovative Summer Learning Community bridge class.
The HRD program is vital to South Piedmont’s transition efforts. Students take HRD classes at various points on their path from basic skills to college or continuing education. HRD serves:
* As a Front Door to the College
* As a Way to Gain Skills while Waiting for Other Classes to Start
* As a Way to Explore Career Options
