Crime Statistics

The National Campus Safety Act requires all institutions of higher education to report annual campus crime statistics. The annual security report is also available at Student Services.

CRIME, INCIDENT, AND ACCIDENT REPORTING NOTIFICATION INFORMATION

Call 911 if there is a fire, a medical emergency, or if you need the police.If you recognize an Emergency Situation for yourself or someone else call 911 immediately!

After notifying 911, dial extension 5225 (704-290-5225) and inform the switchboard operator of your location including which campus you are on, which building, room, or parking lot you are in, the reason or emergency you have called 911 about and give any specific risks or needs for responding personnel.

For accidents or incidents involving you or someone else and only if the situation does not require an emergency response, the following procedure is best to follow.

There will be procedures followed to make you aware if a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees at or near any South Piedmont Community College campus or event. It is critical therefore that you call 911 immediately if you observe or suspect there is immediate risk that could affect those at a campus.

TO SPEAK TO A SECURITY OFFICER

Campus Security are a contracted security service that do not have arrest powers nor do they do they carry issued firearms or less-lethal equipment. They possess training and experience to recognize, identify, and communicate emergency information as well as provide customer service to the South Piedmont Community College guests, students, faculty and staff. Please call 911 first if you believe you or someone else may be in danger or is needing emergency care. There may be occasions sworn law enforcement officers may be available to assist or respond to emergencies, but it important to request them by calling 911 first and then follow the procedure listed next for contacting a Campus Security Officer.

  1. How to Contact a Campus Security Officer
    1. Old Charlotte Highway or OCH Campus: (Monroe / Union County)
      1. Call (704-290-5225 or ext. 5225) or, go to the switchboard/receptionist desk located in the Lobby of Building A and request one respond to you.
      2. Call (704-290-5800 or ext. 5800) for the Security Office or go to the Patriot Grill dining room where you will see the Security Office.
      3. Call On-duty Security Officer cell phone number. This number will be made available to all staff and faculty (including adjunct) on a printed business card.
         
    2. Center for Technology and Health or CTHE Campus: (Monroe / Union County)
      1. Call (704-290-5100 or ext. 5100) and request one respond to you
      2. Call (704-290-5100 or ext. 5100) or go to the Security Office located next to the front entrance
      3. Call On-duty Security Officer cell phone number 704-221-7624. This number will be made available to all staff and faculty (including adjunct) on a printed business card.
         
    3. L.L. Polk or LLP Campus: (Polkton / Anson County)
      1. Call (704-272-5300 or ext. 5300) or go to the switchboard/reception desk in the lobby of the Garibaldi Building and request one respond to you.
      2. Call (704-272-5277 or ext. 5277) or go to the Martin Student Center where the Security Office is located.
      3. Call On-duty Security Officer cell phone number 704-690-0478. This number will be made available to all staff and faculty (including adjunct) on a printed business card.
         
    4. Lockhart-Taylor Center or LTC Campus: (Wadesboro / Anson County)
      1. Call (704-272-5300 or ext. 5300) or go to the lobby of the LTC building and ask for assistance locating a Security Officer
      2. Call (704-272-5467 or ext. 5467) or go to the downstairs floor of the LTC building where the Security Office is located
      3. Call On-duty Security Officer cell phone number 704-690-0944. This number will be made available to all staff and faculty (including adjunct) on a printed business card.
         
  2. How to Contact the Director of Safety and Security, Michael Wilson

    1. Old Charlotte Highway or OCH Campus: (Monroe / Union County)
      1. Follow the same procedures listed in Step 1 about contacting a Security Officer and he or she can make contact with the Director of Safety and Security
      2. Call (704-272-5347 or extension 5347) or go to the Continuing Education / Small Business section located between the receptionist desk and the Patriot Grill of Building A.
      3. Call cell phone number 704-221-9757.
