SPCC To Offer Basic Photography Workshop

South Piedmont Community College will offer a Basic Photography Workshop Nov. 11 through Dec. 9, 2010.  Rick Crider, a well-known local photographer, will teach the class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-8:15 p.m., on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus, 4209 Old Charlotte Hwy., Monroe.

Students in the workshop will need to furnish a basic digital SLR camera because the course is designed to help aspiring photographers step beyond "point and shoot" picture taking. Students will explore the capabilities of their camera's variable settings, such as ISO, shutter speed, aperture, focusing and metering modes and learn to use those settings to achieve optimum results for a particular scenario. Students will also gain insight into their particular equipment needs, such as auxiliary lenses and external flash devices.

The course is recommended for parents and students who want to shoot school sports activities, students entering the graphic arts and design fields and small business owners who wish to promote products and services online or in print.

The course fee is $59. For more information or to register, call Geri Duncan at 704-290-5221.
