Norwood Appointed to SPCC Board of Trustees

Bill NorwoodBill F. Norwood of Monroe has been appointed to the South Piedmont Community College Board of Trustees by Gov. Bev Perdue. He was sworn in at the board?s Aug. 17 meeting to fill the seat previously held by Frank Carpenter, a member of the board since the college was formed in 1999.
Norwood is president and chairman of the board of State Utility Contractors and Murray Construction Company, both located Monroe. He is past chairman of the Carolinas Associated General Contractors and a member of the board of the National Associated General Contractors.
A native of Union County, Norwood is past president of both the Kiwanis Club of Monroe and the Union County Community Arts Council. He serves on the boards of HealthQuest, Rolling Hills Country Club, Foundation for the Carolinas-Union County, Union County Partnership for Progress and the SPCC Foundation Board. He is a past campaign chairman and board member of the United Way of Union County.
Norwood is a graduate of Monroe High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He earned an associate?s degree in applied science in civil engineering technology from Central Piedmont Community College.
Norwood and his wife, Becky, have three grown children and two grandchildren. They are active members of Central United Methodist Church in Monroe.
