Fire for Effect wins SPCC’s fourth Battle of the Bands

POLKTON – Wadesboro rock band Fire for Effect claimed the first-place prize of $500 during Friday night’s fourth annual Battle of the Bands in the Helen Goodman Amphitheater on South Piedmont Community College’s L.L. Polk Campus.

Made up of Mitchell Sutton, Nathan Goodwin and Vincent Baynard, Fire for Effect finished third in last year’s competition.

Classic rock band Someday Famous claimed the second-place prize of $300 and bluegrass band Cabin Creek won $200 for finishing third.

Shelby Rummage, the lead singer for Someday Famous, and Corey Tossas each won $100 after tying for first place in the individual competition.
The free event, which included rides, games, free food and free T-shirts, drew a crowd of around 900.
