SPCC Hosts Graphic Design Camp
July 6, 2007
South Piedmont Community College held a graphic design day camp June 25-29 for rising seventh through ninth grade Monroe Middle School students.
Students used iMac G5 Intel Processor computers to create their own music, slideshows, movies, artwork and websites. The software used to construct these projects included iMovie, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and iDVD. Each student burned his or her projects to compact disc and DVDs to have as a keepsake.
“Most of the students walked in having never worked with a Macintosh computer,” said Linda Monroe Ward, SPCC graphic design instructor. “These awesome learners came in and started exploring the computers and software without hesitation.”
Graphic Design Camp participants were Mitchelle Allen, Tony Burrus, Temetris Clyburn, Demarious Hammonds, Jalan Lockhart, Adaline Pann, Christian Pann, David Pann, Colton Stegall, and Victor Vergara.
Graphic Design Camp 2007 was funded by a Gear Up grant obtained by Monroe Middle School to provide students with scholarships for a variety of summer camps.
