SPCC Hosts Student Art Exhibit at Lockhart-Taylor Center

South Piedmont Community College will host the Art Exhibit of Clarice Martin, Nov. 1 – Nov. 30, in the lobby of the Lockhart-Taylor Center, 514 N. Washington St., Wadesboro. The Lockhart-Taylor Center is open Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. – noon.

Martin has been an art student for 22 years at SPCC and other community colleges. She is a versatile artist utilizing a wide variety of media. Martin paints a variety of subjects and scenes mainly from imagination. “I envision something and just paint it,” Martin said. She says she has been a student and will continue to be a student because “you can never learn everything.”

The exhibit contains paintings of landscapes, flowers, butterflies, chickens and other subjects. Martin’s favorite work, Noon Feeding, features Martin’s childhood caretaker, Sally Bennett, and her flock of mixed chickens. Martin has been a three-time winner in the President’s Choice Art Show at the North Carolina Community College System office. The winning pieces are including in the exhibit. Most exhibit works are for sale to the public.
