SPCC offers summer multimedia classes, workshops

South Piedmont Community College’s Advertising and Graphic Design Department is offering a variety of multimedia design classes and workshops over the summer, beginning next week.

Classes scheduled are:

• “Digital Photo Editing” and “Sharing, Using Free/Inexpensive Resources,” Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to noon, May 21-30, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Participants will learn how to edit, resize and enhance their photos and share them online.

• “Digital Photo Painting,” Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 21-30, Learn from an award-winning digital artist how to create digital art from photos.

• “Blogging Essentials Using Free Resources,” Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon, May 22-31. Learn how to create engaging blogs using free online resources.

• “Podcasting Essentials,” Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 22-31. Learn how to create both video and sound podcasts using free resources. Save them to free online locations where they can be shared through blogs, websites, etc.

• “Graphics Summer Camp,” for adults and teens 15 and older,” 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 11-14. Students will be introduced to various forms of multimedia, including, but not limited to, photography, digital art, video, DVD movies, animation, sound and music, web design, etc. At the end, students will have completed several projects that can be shared through social media.

• “WEB 2.0: Blogs, Podcasts, Wikis, Social Media and More for Educators and Everyone Else,” Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon, June 18-June 28. Students will learn how to use the various WEB 2.0 applications to create a presence on the web.

• “Creating Easy Websites with Apple iWeb,” Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., June 19-28. Students will learn how to create appealing and dynamic websites.

• “iPhoto Essentials,” Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., June 18-27. Students will learn how to import images to a computer, organize and tag images, fix images, resize, save for print and web, create books and share images.

• “Creating Movies with iMovie and iDVD,” Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 9-25. Students will learn how to create professionals movies using iMovie and iDVD.

• “YouTube Essentials,” Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 10-19. Students will learn how to get an account, create and customize a YouTube channel, shoot and edit video, prepare the videos for upload and link movies to other social media.

• “Creating and Publishing eBooks to iPad, Kindle and Other Readers,” Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., July 10-26. Students will learn how to use Microsoft Word, Apple Pages and Apple iBook Author to create ePub books, as well as learn how to format for various platforms and how to publish the eBooks.

• “Dynamic Multimedia Presentations,” Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., July 9-25. Students will learn how to create dynamic multimedia presentations to use for business purposes, videos, Acrobat eBooks and social media.

• “iPad for Seniors,” Tuesday, July 24, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to use the iPad for the Internet, apps, eBooks, photos, videos and more.
