April 13, 2011

MONROE – South Piedmont Community College’s Night Owl Carnival returns for its third year and, as in years past, almost everything is free. The event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, April 29, at the Old Charlotte Highway Campus, 4209 Old Charlotte Highway.

Admission is free and the first 800 people will receive free meal tickets good for barbecue pork sandwiches and hot dogs with toppings and condiments, potato chips, assorted cookies, and iced tea, lemonade and water. There will also be free T-shirts while they last.

Music will be performed by Rekless Youth, winner of last year’s Battle of the Bands, and Riptide throughout the evening. A dance group will also perform between the music acts.

As usual, there will be games and rides for all ages, as well as a moon bounce, inflatable slide and basketball goal.
Some organizations will have booths set up for various fundraisers, including chair massages with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

The Night Owl Carnival is sponsored by SPCC’s Student Government Association. For more information, contact Student Activities Director Mike Maffucci at 704-290-5864 or mmaffucci@spcc.edu.
