South Piedmont Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing Club presented a $400 check to Turning Point on Wednesday, Oct. 19, as the Class of 2011’s class gift. Turning Point is Union County’s domestic abuse shelter. SPCC ADN Nursing Department Chair Joyce Long presented the check to Naomi Herndon, Turning Point’s executive director, during a Turning Point staff meeting Wednesday. “We encourage community involvement,” Long said. “Some of our clinicals are out in the community and Turning Point is one of those clinical sites. This year, our class chose to give their gift to one of those sites in the community where they did their clinicals.” The ADN Club held various fund-raisers, including a doughnut sale, bake sale and T-shirt sale, to raise money for the class gift.
